On 11th September, 2012, a garment factory in Baldia Town, Karachi, blazed in fire. Estimated 300 workers died due to smoke inhalation, serious burns and stampede. Arts Council of Karachi provided artists a platform to display works which present a tribute to the victims and also spread awareness by raising a voice against weak fire strategies in work stations. Under the Title of ‘Awazz Baldia Inferno’, a large number of artists from various parts of Karachi executed installations, painting, sculpture, videos, digital and mix-media works as collaboration or individual efforts.
The works i made represent a satirical response towards unavailability of indispensable signage at the factory, which added in the difficulty of locating escape routes during the fire.
